Obesity

I have been writing an essay for my psychology class that I thought was interesting and odd at the same time. California is considering a ban on happy meal toys to try and promote healthy eating and stop the rise of obesity. So what I was wondering is when did what we eat become the government's responsibility?

  1. hmm i tried to post a comment and it said it didn't work...lets try again.
I think that this is absolutely crazy. I thought it was a joke when I saw it on the news. It is our freedom to choose what we eat and taking away happy meal toys is not going to magically make everyone fit. I cannot help but think that this has something to do with the negotiation of a universal health plan. I really hope that California doesn't do this...

  2. This is ridiculous. And how in the world is banning a toy going to promote healthy eating? It is the parent responsibility to fed your children what you see fit. It is not the governments responsibility at all.

  3. I personally think that the government should not try to regulate what kids eat. Yes, the United States is obese, but in the end it is what the parents choose to feed their kids. I personally would not feed my kids fatty foods all the time. Once in a while, a happy meal isn't going to turn a healthy active child overweight. It takes time. I think if parents aren't concerned that their kids are overweight neither should the government.

  4. My kids love McDonalds and yes they love the toys. Its the parents responsibility to make sure their children are making good food choices. McDonalds offers plenty of healthy options.
